All smiles in the mist on Sgurr nan Gillians West Ridge
All smiles in the mist on Sgurr nan Gillians West Ridge

Hi From Jo and Dan at Highland Guides

Thanks to all of you for joining us out on courses and guided days out so far it’s been a pleasure tying in with so many of you. Hope everyone’s been enjoying what has turned out to be a lovely summer for the most part in the Highlands. Off the back of some moodier weather in the mountains we thought we would take some time to write a line with an update of things we’ve been up to and upcoming events to look out for.

Our Spring Summer Season kicked off early this year with some great early conditions to be

found. After a busy period of climbing courses in the highlands and Cuillin ridge action at the

start of the summer Dan and I headed out to East Africa at the end of June to work on some

rock climbing courses. It’s always great for us to return to Kenya there’s a life time of exploringand new crags to find and it’s a crazy place to go rock climbing especially when for many on our courses it’s the first real taste of outdoor climbing. You can read more about that on Dans blog. Source of the Rive Nile and the Holy Stones

After feeling refreshed from some equatorial sun we’re back at base in Inverness and have

been making the most of all the local cragging. There's usually some sunny weather to be found in Inverness and we’re still finding new spots to visit on the doorstep. In the meantime Dan’s been busy ticking away at Highland Guides admin finishing the website refresh and plotting some of our winter events so look out for those! On the hill we’ve had teams out munro bagging and ridge traversing on Skye, learning rock climbing skills around Inverness and the Cairngorms and we’ve even had teams climbing in the lake district and bagging 3000s in Ireland.
