Skill : Proficient use of axe and crampons

We cover the technical skills in using an axe and crampons on a variety of terrain, steep snow, ice and mixed rocky terrain often found in the Highlands. We also cover self arrests although our focus is on remaining upright so plenty of movement skills.

Skill : Winter Navigation

A vital skill in any season in the mountains but especially in the often fierce winter weather. Blizzards, white out, and changing snow-covered terrain all mean a proficient level of skill is required with a map and compass.
