Ben Macdui sits in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park and at 1309 meters makes it the UK’s second highest mountain. Its situation gives stunning views across the Cairngorm plateau and across the high tops of the range. We offer a guided journey via a variety of routes depending on experience and aspirations. It also offers a relatively easy but long route requiring only a good level of hill fitness and no prior winter experience.
The required skills for the ascent using an ice axe and crampons will be given along with guidence from a qualified instructor as we go. There are a variety of routes to the top depending on group size, ability and fitness. The summit of Ben Macdui offers huge views across the Cairngorm plateau and the Northern Corrie's and on a clear day all the way west to the summit of Ben Nevis.
We are able to provide the following equipment for your course included in the cost. Ice axe and crampons along with a helmet. Excluded is winter clothing and winter mountain boots. From our base in and Aviemore you can easily hire winter boots from the sport shops. We can arrange this for you and pick up the boots prior to the course starting. All mountain safety equipment such as group shelters and first aid kit will be provided by the instructor.
